FIRST EVENT
Our first tournament took place in Salt Lake City, Utah in October 2006 with a surprise appearance from multiple media outlets.
DIVISIONS
Initially start with only an upper and reduce division, the NGBA has grown to offer 7 All Gender divisions and 3 Women’s+ divisions.

CITY TEAMS GROWTH
Many LGBTQ+ basketball programs were created during the first five years of NGBA's existence. It was an thrilling time to observe many local leaders embracing the influence of LGBTQ+ basketball. This article presents one side of the story, but reality is more balanced.
I will start by saying that Duke is the last place I await to promote homophobia in any way. Any sentiment made public that could be remotely interpreted as anti-gay is met with hatred and, dare I say, bigotry. Campus during Amendment One was a circus of "Vote Against" propaganda and paraphernalia. In my four years there, I had trouble evidence anyone who had negative views of homosexuality, and even more trouble result people who were homophobic. The Chronicle occasionally published anti-gay articles or quotes, but those were always met with metaphorical torches and pitchforks. Some pro-gay movements were even attempted by students IN CAMERON. In any case, execute you think Duke would do anything to ostracize Tim Cook? Sure, homophobes exist at Duke, but they are largely secret about it. They are the exception, not the rule.

2002-2006
Achievement FROM THE START
The NGBA was formed to carry organization and baseline standards to the LGBTQ+ basketball community. From 2002 to 2006 the NGBA promoted the future path of LGBTQ+ basketball, and that path started to sparkle at the 2006 Queer Games in Chicago.
INCLUSION
The NGBA prides itself on diversity and inclusivity while ensuring the overall experience is enjoyable to all.

Welcome to my annual Who’s Gay in the WNBA Report! For those of you who are recent, every year I separate down the list of athletes who are openly queer in the league. As a queer person who has played basketball my entire life, the off-court drama is always equally as exciting as the on-court display of skills. Knowing who’s queer and who’s dating who only adds to that for me. If you’re more of a pure viewer of the game and prefer only knowing what’s going on while the clock is running, I do regularly form WNBA TikToks that I like to think are pretty informative!
The league is well known to own some of the optimal pre-game walk-up outfits in all of professional sports, so you’re missing out if you don’t go after at least the @wnba account on Instagram. Here’s a complete list of all out gay players in the league, broken down by team. For my purposes, “Out” means confirmed by the player either in an interview or on their social media. No matter how masculine presenting someone is, I will not be speculating!

Cameron Brink 'Icked Out' By Potential Male Practice Players, 'Preferably They're Gay'
Cameron Brink has seen all the memes about the L.A. Sparks holding tryouts for male practice players ... and she's praying to the basketball gods that whoever makes the final cut isn't a creepy horndog.
The WNBA team sparked uncomfortable reactions after announcing its plans to welcome dudes into its education facility to challenge against its athletes during workouts ... with a bunch of guys joking about how they would handle one-on-one time with Brink, Rickea Jackson and Kelsey Plum on the court.
The former No. 2 overall choose explained the team previously brought in folks from USC for the position ... but now she has stern concerns about who will be walking in those doors.
"All the comments are like, 'Let Cameron Brink back me down,' or something about Rikea or something about Kelsey and now I'm just like ... preferably they're gay."
"Who are we trusting coming into this gym?"
Brink joked the newcomers will own an effect on her efforts in practice ... adding, "I'm not boxing anyone out.
