Jonathan Bailey has revealed he was very aware of his sexuality after playing a straight character in Netflix's smash hit Bridgerton.
The thespian, 36, who is openly gay, explained that the media attention that came with the famous exhibit put his sexuality into the spotlight.
Jonathan added that he felt very strange after his private animation became part of the publicity for the show.
The Wicked star contrasted his experience on Bridgerton with working on Heartstopper, which he said he launch cathartic, as he played a gay character.
The Crashing actor told Vanity Fair: 'Doing Bridgerton - it's funny what comes with doing a lot of press, and suddenly there's a lot that people want to know about you, and there's a lot that's asked of you that, obviously, in any other industry, you wouldn't have to communicate about.

Jonathan Bailey spoke about his sexuality in a new interview with British Vogue.
The Wicked star, who has been acting since he was a child, previously said that he felt pressured preceding in his career to hide entity gay. He ultimately came out to friends and family in his ahead 20s.
Jonathan has previously expressed that he had an thought that he was gay from the age of 11, but struggled with identifying as such given the lack of positive visibility. In this fresh interview, he reflected on coming to the realization more gradually.
“It’s interesting with the binary,” he told Vogue, “where you’re perceived to be either this or that. That’s how I saw it at the time, but there are so many nuances to it." After all, Jonathan said that he was in a relationship with a woman for two years in his early 20s: "My experience of that relationship was not that I was in the shadows. She remains one of my finest friends.”
"I think other people understood my sexuality before I was even conscious of it,” he continued, noting that his parents encouraged him to receive up ballet after a childhood of dressing up, singing, and dancing.

The “Wicked” actor, who is gay, made the remark during an interview with British Vogue published Thursday while confirming he hopes to be a father one day.
“I might co-parent with a gal, but I’m thinking it will be with a man,” he theorized.
However, he is in no rush to be a dad and cited his occupied schedule.
“It’s such a privilege for a man,” he conceded. “But I can’t bring children into my lifestyle now … I want to create sure I’m going to be present.”
He is currently preparing himself for the process, though, by reading books on adoption.
Bailey, 36, revealed last December that he is dating a “lovely” man but the identity of his boyfriend remains unknown.
“It’s not secret, but it’s private,” he told the Usual in December 2023. “Having a private life is, for me, completely critical.”
“I don’t know if I would be able to be as confident to speak out on other things if I felt that my whole animation was up for grabs.”
