The Group Action Network (CAN) Program at the Los Angeles LGBT Center is inquiring volunteers passionate about community organizing and facilitating educational workshops for LGBTQ+ youth and youth supporters in Los Angeles.

Community Action Network (CAN) is a volunteer based program for people ages 18-24 who are enthusiastic about working with LGBTQ youth. CAN collaborates with middle and high educational facility students and GSA advisors throughout Los Angeles to assemble capacity in GSA’s/LGBTQ groups. Trainings incorporate storytelling, LGBTQ+ competency, self-care, LGBTQ+ history, student activism, damage reduction and prevention for substance employ, and social convert actions

2025 LA Fire Relief Volunteer Opportunities with Neighborhood Legal Services of LA County

Neighborhood Legal Services of LA County (NLSLA) is inquiring volunteers to help staff at the disaster recovery center in Altadena.   The DRC is located at 540 N. Woodbury Rd, 7 days a week from 9:00-5:00. We hold two shifts each morning, 9:00-1:00 and 1:00-5:00. The DRC will be unseal for 2 months and so the need for volunteers is tremendous.

NLSLA also has two reoccurring clinic opportunities:

1. Virtual Landlord/Tenant Clinic on Wednesdays for tenants impacted by the fires.  Those without landlord tenant encounter will be paired with an experienced volunteer.   

2. FEMA Clinic on Thursdays.  The first FEMA clinic is on February 6th from Noon to 3:00, in person and the second part is from 4:30-7:30 and virtual.  The in person clinic is at the Maxwell House in Pasadena.

The Immigration Law Project provides direct legal representation and holistic support to LGBT persons who have survived persecution and torture in their home countries. The Project represents clients before the immigration court (Executive Office of Immigration Review) and US Citizenship and Immigration Services.

JOB SUMMARY:

This position supports the Immigration Law Project of the Legal Services Department. The Immigration Law Project assists LGBT survivors of persecution and torture who are seeking protection (asylum) in the United States. The Project is primarily looking for volunteers who are fluent or proficient in the following languages:

  • Spanish
  • Russian
  • Arabic
  • French
