LGBTQIA Resource Center Glossary
GLOSSARY
The terms and definitions below are always evolving, altering and often mean other things to different people. They are provided below as a starting show for discussion and empathetic. This Glossary has been collectively built and created by the staff members of the LGBTQIA Resource Center since the soon 2000s.
These are not universal definitions. This glossary is provided to help offer others a more thorough but not entirely comprehensive understanding of the significance of these terms. You may even consider asking someone what they imply when they use a term, especially when they use it to portray their identity. Ultimately it is most important that each individual define themselves for themselves and therefore also define a legal title for themselves.
“If I didn't define myself for myself, I would be crunched into other people's fantasies for me and eaten alive.” -Audre Lorde
This glossary contains terms, such as ableism and disability, that may not be considered directly related to identities of sexuality or gender. These terms are vital to acknowledge as part of our mission to challenge all forms of oppress
Natural Woman

The song “A Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin is being bashed by LGBTQ critics as “offensive,” with one company in particular saying the song helps perpetuate harmful anti-trans stereotypes. Released as a single by Franklin back in 1967, the song is now facing scrutiny - despite preaching positive messages in regards to women and femininity in general. The Norway-based Trans Cultural Mindfulness Alliance (TCMA), a group that formed earlier this year, has a problem with the song. Statements made by the organization - which seeks to unseal a chapter “in each European country and North America” - have spawned outrage, including its January 20 request to drag Franklin's song from streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music. The upload said the song is offensive to transgender people and that “there is no such thing as a ‘natural’ woman.” “Aretha Franklin's 1968 song ‘Natural Woman’ perpetuates multiple harmful anti-trans stereotypes,” the share reads, erroneously listing the song's September 1967 discharge as coming in 1968. “There
“A Natural Woman” causes unjustified backlash from LGBTQ+ community
Americans are too sensitive in the offer today, people are getting cancelled for things that happened years ago and probably weren’t targeted towards a certain group of people.
Music has taken a turn for the worst in terms of classic slap record such as Aretha Franklin’s “A Natural Woman” when the LGBTQ+ group got wind of the record entity offensive.
The ones who felt deeply targeted were the Gender non-conforming community saying that the song is insinuating that transgenders can’t be actual women.
It’s been numerous of tweets of the trans people saying, “There is no such thing as a innate woman.”
The tweet went on and said, “The song has helped inspire acts of harm against transgender women.”
Most people want to build this song political and it doesn’t have to be, especially over something that is rather silly for a better lack of a word.
People never want to intentionally offend by someone or a team of others and it’s quite ridiculous when people are trying to cancel a song made back in 1968.
When the song was created, people were
