1. BORN FROM SOMETHING AWFUL
Around 2005 or so a strange link started exhibiting up in my old webcomic's referral logs. This novel site I didn't understand. It was a bulletin board, but its system of navigation was opaque. Counter intuitively, you had to hit "reply" to read a thread. Moreover, the content was bizarre nonsense.
The site, if you hadn't guessed, was 4chan.org. It was an offshoot of a different message board which I also knew from my referral logs, "Something Awful", at the time, an online community of a few hundred nerds who liked comics, video games, and well, nerds things. But unlike boards with similar content, Something Awful skewed toward dark jokes. I had an account at Something Awful, which I used sometimes to post in threads about my comic.
4chan had been created by a 15 year old Something Awful user named Christopher Poole (whose 4chan mod name was "m00t"). Poole had adapted a type of Japanese bulletin board software which was difficult to understand at first, but once learned, was far more fun to announce in than the traditional American format used
While browsing 4Chan the other day I found this interesting top on “what does your parents reflect about anime?”. This especially grabbed my attention because I find it curious how some parents monitor anime with their kids, yet some talk sh*t about them.
In my family my dad just glare at me funny but doesn’t really say a word. My mom gets worries and sometime state things like “when are you going to expand up?” which I would normally answer “well, it is better than me going to night clubs all night long and buy drugs”, and that normally does the trick.
The ultimate problem I contain is probably my older sister. She was cute fine with it a couple of years ago until she learned what the meaning of otaku is and what they are like from her friends and the internet (big shock right?). Things pretty much went on an one way journey to “getting my interest insulted whenever she gets piss” paradise.
In the cease I don’t really talks abut my interest with them anymore, and that is why my blog’s name is My Private Otaku Life. Since I don’t like to contribute my thought on my interest with other people.
Here are some of th
How hate-symbol Pepe the Frog took trolling mainstream
It seemed unlikely anyone would ever usurp Kermit as the most notorious of amphibians in pop culture. But in the mid-2010s, a new green star was born in the establish of Pepe the Frog.
Originally appearing in the 2006 comic book Boy’s Club by Matt Furie, he was a slacker type character who hung around with his pals Andy, Brett and Landwolf, smoking, drinking, eating pizza and generally having a great time. Fond of pulling his trousers all the way down whilst urinating, when asked about this his simple response was: “Feels good, man”.
These three words started the frog’s transformation from a benign cartoon character to world-renown hate symbol. And now, they’re also the title of a new documentary exploring the history and legacy of Pepe.
The clip traces Pepe’s evolution from Furie’s comic book pages to him popping up on weightlifting forums, before taking a more sinister turn via the accepted 4chan message board and becoming the defining symbol of the alt-right. Such was the bigotry attached to the various manipulated images of the frog that it eventually ended up being legally classified as a hate symbol.

According to 4chan there was a leak about a female Deadlock member, but then again there’s so many fake leaks on 4chan so who knows. Weapon smuggling is what Deadlock does though.
Righteous-115157492
if that leak were credible, the youtubers wouldve been on it.

Don’t really want more characters from the scattered remains of various organizations/gangs being introduced before we’ve fleshed out all the folks we got already tbh…
I would never trust 4chan tho

True that.
Right now I’m very happy I took a few days off for next week, Blizzcon and my birthday all wrapped in a nice little bow! I’m crossing my fingers for Sanjay even if it seems unlikely now. I’ll also accept Overwatch Mohawk Man.

Yep, that's Dan alright.
So, this comic was actually all Leslie! Inks and everything. Sadly, our last Patreon take was a bit short. Several declined cards. That, coupled with some ridiculous taxes we hold to pay this year meant that Federico's going to have to obtain a little break for the rest of the month. We're still going to try and undertake two updates a week! And an RC update or two. And obtain our Kickstarter rewards wrapped up. So much work.
Speaking of Kickstart, WE'RE NEARLY DONE. I'll be sending out a Kickstarter update about this later, but not counting people who haven't actually sent us their address, we only have 25 MORE BOOKS TO SEND OUT. WE'RE SO CLOSE TO Entity DONE. All the $30, $40, and $60 tiers had their stuff sent out. We just contain the $80 tier and up to finish, which isn't a lot! They ARE, however, the more complicated tiers. Got to figure out how to send books and posters and shit without the shipping costs absolutely murdering us. It'll be alright, though, these books are going out no matter what, don't you fret about that.
Oh, and if you haven't notice, we have a store button on the site now! The three 11
