No 'victim mentality' or rainbow flags: Gay Republicans rally for Trump

“It’s not just about gays and lesbians. It’s about the communities that care about equality,” Moran said. “And, again, suburban women, youth voters — these are core constituencies of the 2024 election cycle. We don’t just have to pander and run to gays.”

Still, Moran and other event organizers said they accept Trump could secure up to 50% of male lover voters in the upcoming election, without providing figures explaining their reasoning. Millions of American adults recognize as lesbian or male lover, according to Gallup.

In a Human Rights Campaign poll conducted in August, 74% of LGBTQ voters state they plan to or are leaning toward voting for Vice President Kamala Harris, 7.5% for Trump and the remainder for third party write-ins.

Brandon Wolf, a spokesperson for the advocacy group, which has endorsed and is fundraising for Harris, denounced the Trump UNITY events and accused the former president of leading “the most anti-LGBTQ+ administration in history.”

“Some people really like proximity to power, and Donald Trump is someone who peddles power in exchange for things constantly,” Wolf said. “It’s unfortuna

At a news conference on August 8, 2024, former President Trump criticized the record of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, chosen last week as Vice President Kamala Harris’ running mate, including Walz’s support for LGBTQ people (record here). Trump claimed Walz was “heavy into the transgender world,” without detail on what he meant, or recognition that transgender people are part of everyone’s world.

The rhetoric paired Trump’s comments to Fox News the day before: “He’s very heavy into transgender. Anything trans person he thinks is great, and he’s not where the country is on anything.”

GLAAD’s Voter Poll shows a majority of voters of all parties contradict candidates who campaign against transgender people.

Trump’s own record shows he has hefty interest in targeting and restricting transsexual people and plans to continue this record if elected.

Trump’s 2024 platform on transgender Americans includes:

  • Outlawing gender-affirming care for minors at the federal level, according to his “Agenda 47”
  • Using the government to investigate and potentially halt transgender health care. “Upon my inauguration, I will direct the FDA to convene an independent outside panel to inspect whether transg

    Donald Trump, gay icon?!

    Donald Trump, gay icon?

For Keian Dayani of Seattle, totally. Dayani is a 29-year-old pharmacist, a Christian of Iranian descent.

He lives with his partner in a high-rise building downtown. Their views on taxes are just one thing they own in common – the lack of an income tax in Washington drew both of them to settle here.

Dayani answered a social media shout out from KUOW to chat about why he supports Trump. In Trump’s outspokenness, Dayani sees echoes of gay peoples’ experiences.

“We don’t take criticism of who we should be or what we should be lightly,” he said.

Top story: Mama, I was supposed to be born a girl

Which is why Dayani calls Trump a same-sex attracted icon.

“To advance our clash for the right to marry, the right to be employed, we’ve had to be pretty vocal. And Donald Trump is very, very vocal,” Dayani said.

Dayani said his uppermost issue as a voter is the threat of terrorism and radical Islam. He also supports a wall on the border with Mexico and other measures to stop drug trafficking. In Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton and her liberal supporters, Dayani sees a reluctance to discuss about what he believes are major threats to the U.S.

'Nothing gay about it': How Trump and Village People connect

During the 2016, 2020 and 2024 US presidential election campaigns, the list of musicians who voiced their opposition to their songs being used by Donald Trump was drawn-out , ranging from ABBA to the White Stripes, and — at some aim — the Village People.

In June 2020, the band's frontman, Victor Willis, publicly objected to the Trump campaign's use of Village People songs at his rallies. Criticizing Trump's threat to leverage military force against Inky Lives Matter protesters, Willis then wrote on Facebook, "Sorry, but I can no longer look the other way."

    Money talks

But Willis later had a alter of tune, noticing that "Y.M.C.A." was enjoying renewed victory during the 2024 campaign: As Trump kept using the iconic hit at his rallies, the 46-year-old track spent several weeks at the top of Billboard's hottest-selling dance songs chart.

"The financial benefits own been great as skillfully, as 'Y.M.C.A.' is estimated to gross several million dollars since the President-elect's continued use of the song," Willis acknowledged in a Facebook post in December 2024.

So now, the Village People are ready to

U.S. President Donald Trump has used his first six months in office to enact multiple policies impacting the lives of LGBTQ+ Americans in areas enjoy healthcare, legal recognition and education.

On July 17, the government ended the nation's specialised mental health services for Queer youth through the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, with the White Residence describing it as a service where "children are encouraged to embrace extreme gender ideology".

The administration also filed a lawsuit against California this month over state policies that allow transgender female athletes to contend in girls' categories of school sports.

But rights groups are fighting back. Nine LGBTQ+ and HIV-related organisations have had more than $6 million in funding restored following a lawsuit against three of Trump's executive orders.

Here's everything you need to know:

What action has Trump taken on Queer rights?

Trump started his second term on Jan. 20 by signing an executive order stating the United States would only recognise two sexes - male and female - before scrapping the use of a gender-neutral "X" marker in passports.

He said federal funds would not be used to "promote gender ident
