A Skylit Drive
She Watched the Sky

Review Summary: A breath of fresh atmosphere in a stale genre.

Atlantic versus Pacific, East versus west, East Coast versus West Coast, California versus North Carolina. What does this have to perform with a CD, you may ask. Well, A Skylit Drive hails from Sacramento, Ca and was signed to the North Carolina record label, Tragic Hero Records. They hold been compared to Chiodos, Thursday, and Taking Help Sunday, but do these comparisons hold up? Or is it just another record label trying to sell more albums? Is this another generic album in Post-Hardcore/Screamo, or is it really a breath of fresh air? Does this band have what it takes to produce it big? Let us take a dive into the deep end and see.

Right off the bat, you can hear one of the greatest aspects of this band, their vocals. They have the layered vocals, in vein of TBS, and each line has emotion behind it. They have everything from singing to screaming to yelling, to death growls; however, they understand how to transition from each vocal style and makes each one sound better then the previous. They may be fresh, but they know how to write songs and lyrics. Yes, it may be “emo” lyrics, but what a skylit drive drummer gay

A Skylit Drive
Wires...and the Concept of Breathing

Review Summary: The hype around this album was not deserved. A Skylit Drive is just another generic Post-Hardcore band that will probably sign with a bigger label with the next mass signing of Post-Hardcore acts.

A Skylit Drive and their drummer probably don't accept on gay marriage

Unless you call a rock residence, you're aware of the Supreme Court's decision slow last week to legalize same-sex marriage across the United States. While the decision was roundly celebrated amongst those in the metal community who chose to acknowledge it, there was at least one guy who didn't come into view to be particularly pleased. In addition to drumming for A Skylit Drive(and formerly for Motionless In White), Brandon Richteralso lifts weights and talks about Christianity. He seemingly serves as a spiritual instruction for a small handful of people (e.g "For more guidance and or if you want my advice or help on how to live a better life just contact me. I am here to help you"). On Saturday, Richter took to Instagram to communicate his thoughts on the unused protections for gay marriage:

Thinking better of himself, Richter deleted the send within the hour. However, not long thereafter, he reposted it, this period trying to explain that his statement wasn't about gay marriage or equality, but rather about the imagery that mocked God. Of course if you read his statement again, this explanation makes no sense whatsoever. Ri
