Here’s what you require to know before heading to Austin Pride 2024

AUSTIN, Texas — Encouraging attendees to revel in glitz and glamour, Austin Pride celebrations kick off on Saturday, Aug. 10 and include a festival and procession, dazzling performances and more. Here’s what you need to know before attending the festivities.


What You Need To Know

  • Austin Pride 2024 kicks off Saturday, Aug. 10

  • The festival is from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the march is from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

  • Festival attractions incorporate games and carnival rides, drag queen story time, vendor booths and more

  • There wil be performances by "Material Girl" rapper Saucy Santana and "Ru Paul's Drag Race" finalist Adore Delano

It all starts with a festival taking place at Fiesta Gardens from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Attractions include free inflatable games and carnival rides, performative queen story moment, over 100 vendor booths, food, drinks and more.

Pride week is one of the many ways we highlight the district's dedication to creating a sound, supportive and inclusive environment for all.

Why it matters: When students feel protected and can show up as their full selves at school, they’re greater able to engage in learning and thrive academically.  

What to expect: This year's celebration is March 24–28 and the theme is beYOUtiful. Campuses may participate in Pride-themed spirit activities outside instructional time:

  • Monday - All are welcome! Upload, share, or display pupil work, pictures, and items that represent your family, things you're proud of, and what makes you feel connected.
  • Tuesday - Differences are beYOUtiful! Wacky socks day!  Wear something joy that expresses your unusual and awesome self.
  •  Wednesday - I am beYOUtiful! Wear something that makes you feel beautiful, confident, and proud of who you are.
  •  Thursday  - Our collective is beYOUtiful! Mix It Up Lunch! Take the opportunity to sit with new people and mark our diverse community.
  •  Friday - All the colors! Each grade level wears a different color or educational facility

    Where to celebrate Identity festival Month in Austin in 2025

    Austin celebrates Identity festival two months out of the year: in June during national Pride Month and in August, when the city holds its main Pride parade. That means there’s twice as many opportunities to mark LGBTQ+ history and culture.

    Here’s a list of things to do around the area during this first round of festivities, from book clubs to art markets to flamboyant performances.

    Pride Flag Raising Ceremony, June 3

    Travis County Assess Andy Brown will host the fifth annual pride flag raising ceremony from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 700 Lavaca St. The free event includes vendors, artists and interaction with LGBTQ+ leaders.
