Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Queen Naija teams up with rap huge and fellow Detroit native Big Sean for her new single “Hate Our Love.”
Produced by frequent collaborator Mike Woods, “Hate Our Love” takes its cue from Bobby Glenn’s 1976 classic “Sounds Enjoy a Love Song,” which popularized JAY-Z’s Grammy-nominated staple “Song Cry,” in 2002.
With flipping and modernizing samples becoming an approach Naija is fast becoming established for, she uses it to construct a tune inspired by true events.
Naija offers an passionate vocal about people wishing failure within her bond, skimming over rumors floating out there.
Though she doesn’t understand why they occur, she won’t let the constant public scrutiny deteriorate a love that can only grow stronger.
Big Sean balances “Hate Our Love” by rapping honestly about a relationship.
“Hate Our Love” is Queen Naija’s first solo release since the reissue of her successful debut album, Missunderstood. The deluxe version had appearances by Wale, J.I Prince of NY., and Ari Lennox, who starred on its lead-off “Set Him Up.”

R&B singer/songwriter Queen Naija had the chance to function with fellow Detroit native Big Sean for the first time. The two Midwesterners came together for the new song “Hate Our Love.”
The Mike Woods-produced “Hate Our Love” collaboration samples Bobby Glenn’s “Sounds Like A Love Song.” That 1976 single was also famously used by Jay-Z for The Design track “Song Cry” in 2001.
“What I’d like for people to take away from ‘Hate Our Love’ is don’t let anybody come in between anything or anyone that you love,” says Queen Naija, the 26-year-old YouTuber-turned-recording artist.
Queen Naija continues, “I’m so excited to finally collaborate with Enormous Sean on a record… It’s been a fantasy of mine for a while now. With both of us being from Detroit, it felt enjoy the perfect match up and I hope everyone loves the song!”
The Capitol Records signee scored a Top 10 album with 2020’s Missunderstood which featured Kiana Ledé, Lil Durk, Lucky Daye, Russ, Cute Vee, Latto, Toosii, and Jacquees. A deluxe edition hosted additional tracks with Ari Lennox, J.I the Prince of N.Y, and Wale.
